· Hobbies- Going to school, reading, playing games consoles, listening to music, playing instruments

· Interests- becoming famous, learning, playing sport


Age 14-21 both sexes:

· Preferred Genres- Soft Rock/Indie/Pop/Electro

· Favourite bands/Artists- Kings of Leon, The Killers, Florence and the Machine, Katy Perry, Calvin Harris, Paramore, The Kooks

· Hobbies- Going to college or university, driving, hanging with friends, parties, playing instruments

· Interests- Smoking, sleeping in, studying hard, partying harder


Our questionnaire is designed for people who will be in the demographic we are aiming to make the music video for, ideally aged 16-18 or between 14-21 overall but that go to college so we can track them easily. It contains 12 questions to help us know a bit about our audience and their feelings on music video construction.

Album cover analysis

Each of these artists are all from the same genre and have all been renound for the contempory art that their covers have donned. Each one is unique to the musical artist and co-incides with either the album name or with perhaps a lyric in one of the songs.

You me at six - Take off your colours. This is the first picture seen here. It is a swirl of colours with the closest the same colour as the background with the colours slowly dissapearing.

Paramore - Riot. the second album on the list. This is, in my opinion, the simplest of all chosen album covers. the album name is riot, and is the word in orange. the rest of the 'RIOT''s are background. It shows that this could be a rebelious album and shows the more rocky side of Paramore. the background is also used in a video for one of the songs from the album.

Keane - Under the Iron sea. The album cover resembles the title of the album, Under the Iron sea, showing the sea with horses as waves. In medievil times horses where often armoured with iron, which leads me to think it could be a link to the name and chosen art work.

Paramore - Brand New Eyes. This album cover was inspired when the lead singer found a dead butterfly in her drive. She clipped it's wings and pinned it sperately to her fence. the inspiration was from some of the lyrics from on of her songs already on the album.

Biffy Clyro - Puzzle. The album cover and name of the album pretty much coincide with one another. It looks as thoug the man in the picture is struggling to think of something or recal something because he is missing part of him, the missing puzzle piece.

Paramore - All we know is falling. The only thing we see on this cover is a red couch in a brushy area outside. The name of the album makes me feel as though the couch is there perhaps to catch those that are falling and it also appears in one of their video's on the album.

Green Screen Tutorial

Green screen is new technology that allows you to add and change backgrounds of the things you have filmed. In preparation for the creation of our music video we have had a go at changing the background of a clip.

1. Open final cut and import your selected clip, dragging it too the timeline. You must then render the video ready for you to work with. You do this by selecting your video and clicking onto the sequence option at the top of the screen, select render all and then both.

2. Now you can start editing your green screen. Select the effects option at the top of the screen, go to video filters, key and then select Chroma Key. A new tab will appear in your video box called Chroma Keyer, select it. On this screen there is a colour select tool. Click on this and select the background. You will then be given options on a scroll system. Edit the background until it is how you want it. Some of the screen might still be green because th

e greens might be different shades. If this does happen there is a tab on your video screen called motion, select this and crop your video until it is how you like it. You can also cut the length of the clip by using the razor tool.

3. Once you have finished, once again render your video and press play to watch.

Telephone lip sync

To create this cartoon image of myself known as an Opie I used the programme Photoshop.

I uploaded a picture of myself.



I then used a lasso tool to draw around my hair and start filling it in.



Then I added the highlights to my hair as I saw fit.



I then lassoed my face and filled this in.



Then I added my features by lassoing around them and filling in and adding them as a higher layer so they would be visible on my face.



Next was my neck and chest. Once again using the lasso tool I went around my neck and chest and filled it in at a slightly different shade from my face.



Finishing off the rest of my body work I filled in my t-shirt and my arms by lassoing and filling them.



Lastly I created a background by adding a new layer and filling the background in giving it a higher priority than the original photo.
